The Mother of All Storms....

The mother of all storms hit Cape Town this past week.  We prayed for rain for our drought-stricken province and although the rain that came with the storm was most welcome, we just stood in disbelief at the horrendous destruction the winds caused.

It has been the worst storm in over 30 years and the photographs that have been shared on FB have blown my mind away.  I just had to capture this natural event in my traveller's notebook. In years to come I'll probably be saying "remember that storm of 2017?"  Document your everyday life friends, someone in your family will find it interesting to read.

2 spectacular photographs shared freely on FB of the storm clouds approaching Cape Town

Trees uprooted, gale force winds, look at those trees
and the waves were metres high, pummeling onto over onto the Sea Point promenade

And then just a few hours away on the other side of our coast, a huge fire started in Knysna and the wind just played havoc with it and it spread like wildfire.  It is the worst fire to have hit Knysna in 45 years. There are beautiful holiday homes in Knysna, which is a town situated along our scenic Garden Route. All those homes, homes of residents that live there permanently, as well as the informal settlements,  have been reduced to ashes. Tragic that lives have been lost. We pray that the rains we are experiencing on our side, will quickly make its way to their side, as the fire-fighters are unable to control that raging fire right now.

Those smokey clouds so close to that shopping mall.
The flames are too large and wild for those fire-fighters to handle.

Although a sad and tragic disaster, it forms part of our everyday life, so I had to document it.
This is the storm and fire of 2017!

Thanks for popping by.

Scrapping in my TN

I just love Saturday evenings, as I get to relax in my craft room and do a bit of journalling in my traveller's notebooks and planners.

Here is a layout of our adorable Nikita which I've shared on my IG account.  Thought I would share it here as well.

I purchased some planner stamps recently through Marie Smith from The Purple Magnolia.
They are so cute to use in your planners and traveller's notebooks.

This set of Bo Bunny Tab craft dies was also a purchase from The Purple Magnolia.
Excellent service from Marie Smith.

Here follows a few more pages of layouts from my traveller's notebooks and mini Happy Planner.

Thanks for popping by to see what I have to share today.

Please leave a comment, so that I can return the favour.  I would love to know who is visiting me.

A Few Cards

Thought I would share a few cards I made a while ago.  They are so easy to make.
Just CAS (Clean and Simple).

This one reminds me of the days when I was a designer on the Totally Gorjuss Challenge blog.
Such fond memories of those days.  My cards were more elaborate then.
Don't have the time or energy to go into so much detail anymore.
Far too many other hobbies that are taking up my time.

Another Gorjuss Girl.  Just loved them.  The balloon die is new.
I just printed some dots around the inside edge of the balloons to make them pop.
Added 2 small pearls for effect.

These cards were made just using some plain and patterned cardstock.

One way of using up the scraps of paper that we have lying around.
The round sentiment is from Lily of the Valley. The oval one is computer-generated by myself.

The image on the left is also from Lily of the Valley. Such a pity they do not make those
pre-coloured Art Pads anymore. I used to love those to make quick and easy cards.
The image on the right is from a set I bought at Typo.

More CAS cards, just using what one already has in your stash.
I just added some pearls for effect.

I used to have a lovely Watermark, but sadly my PC crashed a while ago and I lost all my files,
hence a very homemade watermark which I quickly created.

Tip for the Day: Watermark your photo's, as you don't want someone else stealing your work.

Visitors have been a bit slow, but I will persevere... lol.  This is what happens when you
take a long sabbatical from blogging!

Thanks to those who will pop by to leave a comment.
I so appreciate it.
